Coronavirus

For All Affected

Dear Father God,

You are all-powerful, all-wise and all-loving.

We come before you asking your mercy on us to stop the spread of the coronavirus throughout the whole world.

We pray for those already infected with this virus that they may receive prompt, effective and compassionate medical care that will restore them to health.

We pray your protection and grace for all medical professionals who are courageously testing and treating those infected with coronavirus. May they be shielded, strengthened and guided as they administer healing treatments and care.

We pray your protection over those most vulnerable to this disease, for our elders, our poor, our disabled and those weakened by other health conditions. Please pour out yourr grace upon them.

We pray for those under quarantine that they might be comforted by your presence and protected from disease, anxiety and fear.

We pray for those who refuse quarantine and are reckless with their behavior. Please stop them from spreading the disease.

We pray for our government leaders and our public healthcare leaders that they might be informed and well prepared as they deal with the coronavirus. Grant them the resources and manpower they need to use their wisdom in the best interest of public health.

We pray for those searching for treatments, cures and vaccines. May you guide them, reveal new ideas and accelerate their discoveries to fight this disease.

We pray for the communities, areas and countries hardest hit by coronavirus. Restore their sense of wellbeing and community. Sustain them, comfort them and give them hope.

We pray for all whose lives are disrupted by the coronavirus. We pray for families who have been separated and for those whose livelihoods have been jeopardized. We pray for those who are struggling to make ends meet. May they turn their eyes to You, Lord and put their trust in You to provide for them.

We look to you, Oh God, praying that the spread of the coronavirus will be halted and that many lives might be spared.

We pray that through this crisis you may draw us closer to you, grow our compassion and increase our knowledge.e

Thank you that you are the Great Physician who not only heals us but who is a a very present help in our time of need as the Bible tells us that you “Took up all our infirmities and carried our diseases.” (Matthew 8 :17 NIV)

We submit to Your perfect plan. May Your kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Thank you for hearing our prayer.

For those with the virus:

You are the ultimate Healer. Father, we come before You to pray for those infected with this virus. We pray for not only their healing, but for them to be comforted while they heal. Lord, please eradicate every ounce of this virus from their bodies. Please heal every cell in their bodies, every infected part of their being. We pray for no lasting effects in their bodies from this illness. Father, please heal them inside and out and provide them with the medical care they need, with the medications they need, and with the healing not only physically but spiritually so that they may live life and life abundantly ahead.

For Those Treating the Sick

Father,

We come to pray for those who are caring for the sick. It takes a kind and selfless heart to care for those who are sick, and so Father we pray for them. We pray that You would be their source of rest, their source of replenishment when weary, and their source of hope in such overwhelming times. Lord we know in Luke 6:38 that whosoever pours out shall be given back in proportion, so we pray blessings upon these caregivers. We also pray for their health that they may not fall ill. Father protect them with a hedge of protection against the germs of coronavirus and help those who are giving to be protected as they nurse others back to health. Bless them, oh Lord.

Isaiah 38:16-17, “LORD, by such things people live; and my spirit finds life in them too. You restored me to health and let me live. 17Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish. In your love, you kept me from the pit of destruction; you have put all my sins behind your back.”

I live on a small farm in a rural community in southern California where I volunteer as a tutor, children's theatre director, summer daycamp director and worship leader.
